Hardchrome plating

Like nickel, hardchromium plating applies a corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant layer. By providing a metal part with a hardchrome coating, the strong properties of both metals are combined. For example, the base metal can absorb the mechanical stresses of the part, while the coating protects it against corrosion, wear or aggressive substances.

Hard chrome structure

With hard chrome plating, the coating is very hard and provided with the correct surface structure. This results in a higher wear resistance, among other things. And yet it retains the proper structure needed to lubricate it when rubbing against other parts or seals.

Technoplating Nijkerk is the only company in the Netherlands to use HEEF 25 for hard chrome plating. This guarantees an exceptionally high hardness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance through the application of our techniques.

Hard chrome layer thickness

​

The layer thickness of our hard chrome is determined by the customer. Extremely thick layers are applied in several passes. For repair work, we often maintain a range such as 100-200 µm, 200-300 µm, etc. This is because we cannot determine in advance what the exact layer thickness is that we need to repair the workpiece. Based on the tolerance or the wishes of the customer, we grind or polish the hard chrome coatings.
